Volunteers Build Sustainable Communities

Volunteers run clean-ups are an important part of environmental and social initiatives - a community act which makes it possible to collaborate with local enthusiasts, volunteers and other important stakeholders. At the same time, it’s important that cleanup programs are effective, sustainable and designed to make an impact. Yesterday early morning, on Sunday 25th November 2018, Earth5R team partnered with the Powai Nisarg Run to ensure the first zero-waste city marathon in India. Running a marathon is not just an athletic achievement, it is a state of mind that says everything is possible. Mumbai – French Consulate – Waste Hackathon

On the morning of 31st October 2018, Earth5R team conducted a hackathon at the French Consulate of Bombay. This event was focused on the topic “waste segregation in public spaces and streets of Paris”. Not only did the French diplomats gain insight about the ACT Paris project but they also came up with very interesting thoughts and solutions for this issue which can be implemented by the municipal body under the supervision of the Mayor of Paris. Cultivating green leaders

Earth5R Intern conducted a workshop on creative waste management. He gave a lecture on waste segregation, teaching the 5R principles to kids.  The workshop was conducted for 4th & 5th standard students of a BMC school near IIT, Powai under the ‘ACT Powai’ project, supported by Swiss Airlines Staff Foundation. Building green young leaders

Earth5R volunteers went to a nursery school in Powai to raise awareness among young children about the waste issue under the ACT Powai project, negatively impacting the environment in which they grow-up. This activity was supported by Swiss Airlines Staff Foundation.   Earth5R volunteers engaged children, who were restless after a long day of school. Using simple understandable terms for children, volunteers explained the different types of waste, how to segregate, why it is important, and the benefits of such actions.
