Waste Management Program At Pune By Earth5R

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

Solid waste management is a serious issue in the city of Pune. Statistically, Pune generates 1500-1600 tons of solid waste each day, amounting for a draconian proportion of garbage generation.

The children of the society conducted a waste management program in their society on December 28, 2015, to treat garbage in a righteous manner. It is a common sight to see people littering the roads, partially due to habit and partially due to lack of disposal bins. This made the people of the society think of changing prevalent circumstances and initiate ways to do things differently.

Realising that unavailability of garbage bins leads to unhygienic and unpleasant environment, the children thought  of making garbage bins out of waste cartons.

They planned to collect all the waste thrown in the society in those carton bins. This helped in spreading awareness among people of their society as to how they could manage their wastes so as to keep the society clean and green. If one wants to change what people think, they need to change what they do.
