How To Make Sustainable Choices In 15 Steps? : Join Earth5r For Home Equals Planet

The HOME EQUALS PLANET program is a collection of 15 simple actions, designed in a way that any individual would be able to follow these actions smoothly. The idea is to inculcate in ourselves, habits that promote environmental preservation, personal health, and sustainable choices.

More than a tenth of the world’s waste is generated in India, says Times of India.

India produces more than 80% of the waste from South Asia and about 13% of the total global waste generation.

Waste Generation Comparison across countries – TOI

India produces more than 80% of the waste from South Asia and about 13% of the total global waste generation.

This is projected to increase by 70% by 2050 due to the rapid urbanization, population growth, and economic development unless urgent measures are taken.

Post the HOME EQUALS PLANET training, one comes across several areas of improvement in their habits. Today, we have Ramnaresh Yadav and Pratik Niwale, who will share their experiences and feedback on some of these training sessions.

Ramnaresh Yadav retired this January after completing 30 good years of work. He took the training in a very positive way as he now has the time to do all these 15 actions without any time constraint.

Pratik Niwale has just started working as a Process Analyst in Mumbai, India. He believes in committing to a social cause and giving back to the community.

Ramnaresh Yadav: “In my childhood, we used to grow tomatoes, chillies, coriander, and curry leaves, and many other essential daily vegetables. There was no concept of a restaurant for us back then. We used to convert all the bio-waste into manure for the crops.

The Home Equal Planet training by Earth5R helped me understand my roles and responsibilities as an individual.

Due to the Home Equals Planet training, I realised I have to take action. The first step that I am taking is to start doing exercise daily. I picked a garden nearby, I jog to the garden daily and spend approx. 1-hour doing mild exercises and yoga.

I find a stark difference in my inner well-being post the daily exercises this past week. Now due to a 1 hours exercise session in the morning, I find myself much more peaceful and feel soothed, relaxed, and calm.”

Success stories like these depict exactly what Home Equal Planet stands for  – change starts at an individual level.

Initiatives taken by Ramnaresh’s family to upcycle and reuse.

Pratik Niwale: “The biggest takeaway for me from this training is that I should exercise more, spend time in nature, and do something for society.

Pratik’s Home Equals Planet training session

My story is no different than the average Indian youth. I work 10 hours a day and then spend 2-3 hours traveling back and forth. I always found excuses to save myself from workout and spending time with nature.

But, after the HOME EQUALS PLANET training, I started going to the gym and have noticed drastic changes in my physical and mental health.

I go out to spend some quality time in nature more often. I feel a healthy lifestyle balance and the results are highly satisfactory.

My family and I also prefer local vendors over supermarkets and chain stores, and try to do most of our shopping from local businesses.

My family already practices waste segregation and a small level of composting.

One thing that really caught my attention was to work for the social good. The HOME EQUALS PLANET training session by Earth5R is setting a good example for people like me to practice social volunteering for a cause that one believes in.”

Citizens like Ramnaresh and Pratik set up a very precise example of the kind of dedication and self-realization Earth5R is generating amongst millions of people.

The Earth5R team would also like to appeal to all the citizens to join this movement and be a part of HOME EQUALS PLANET. To know more about Earth5R, visit their website at https://earth5r.org/.
